Race Lude for the Vtec Challenge
Race Lude for the Vtec Challenge
So here is the story. I've been racing for the past few years in a Civic EK and EG, but have taken a back seat this year to save some money and concentrate on the organisational side of the Vtec Challenge (I'm 50% of the Brains behind the series......... I use that word very lightly )
Money aside, I've found it quite hard this year to just sit and watch after using the R-Motion Civic last year, and have been hankering after another Honda to build as a pure budget Racer for next season. I considered a few other models but finaly decided on a 4th gen BB4 as a base for the project.
Why? Well it has enough power/torque to be semi competetive in the production class. Its cheap and parts are also cheap enough to source, and more importantly, its heavy enough to be able to show that a heavy car can be made light enough to be competetive at relatively little or no cost at all (Disc cutter at the ready)
So, I picked up a 'Hail stoned' damaged BB4 from this Forum on Tuesday night (Thanks Iain "Spider") which already had a host of parts fitted, plus lots more to be sold on to get some money in for safety equipment so a great start, especially as I plan to build the car for around £2k.....Proper Budget Racer!!!!
I will update this thread as things progress, but with a new business on the go, progress may be slow at times.
This mornings job was to put it up on stands and start removing the unwanted interior....................
More updates to follow

Very nice, there's been a huge rise in people choosing Preludes as track cars. They are always overlooked, but at they end of the day....the drive superb and have decent power as standard.
I'll be keeping an eye on this build, take lots of pics.

Yeah its a work of art is that and Rich will be involved in this build although more on the complicated stuff.........and it will be worlds apart from his little Baby
I've been down the route of spending big bucks on a Race car.....now its time to show how it can be done on a budget (Not that I have a choice as i'm skint )
