Great work. Yes a magnet can be really helpful catching the collets.
Might be worth stuffing something in the top of the oil galleries nearby, before compressing each spring?

Yeah I was trying to put loo roll in there to stop em going down but some are pretty tight for space around the springs…
Had a drama last night, had one go missing and thought it had found its way into the engine possibly into the sump I thought  :stupid: :stupid:
Was not looking hopeful, made a special magnet on a ball chain (like you get on the little fishing rods for the ducks at the fair ground), just had a go with that and no luck then all of a sudden I spotted it!! It had ejected out of the head and was sitting on the injector wiring but under the plastic cover :o thank god for that..
I’ve ordered a h series specific bolt on valve spring compressor now to try avoid anymore but clenching :wtf:

Thanks mate, it’s been a slow process but last night I finally finished replacing all 16 stem seals, now I need to order timing belt kit and build back up

So it’s been a busy couple of months, had people over here in Aus from back home and we went back to the UK for 3 weeks, was interesting taking a 10 month old and a 2.5 year old toddler on 14hr and an 8 hr flights (each way) :wtf:
But finally got the parts ready to put this back together last week and started to put it together this long weekend…
Took the Cams and assembly to work to clean it all and fit new seals… can seals were in bad shape!

Also put new crank seal in

Put the main belt on loosely last night so I’ll continue the reconstruction today :)

Finished this off today…
Timing belt on..

Manual tension I used..

Balance belt on…

Are these the original plug leads???
If not they are genuine leads that were done a long time ago..

After that was done I knocked the dust off it and drove it, all ok, no crazy smoke out the exhaust anymore either

Next on list is interior refresh which is much needed as the mold has got to it recently…

And two more for good luck

Looks like a job well done.

Once the interior is spick and span, something to be proud of.
