I used to own a 4G Lude and have been looking around for a real mint S Type. While I was trawling the forums I came across your post. I've owned several VRS's since 2005 and I have to say they are a fantastic car in every way and very, very underrated. Easy to tune, handle great, good fuel economy etc etc. I was speaking to a pro driver who owns a couple of race circuits and has track day experience using his cars. He had an Evo 9 GT, some type of Ferrari, a Lamborghini, M5 and an Octavia VRS with a stage 1 remap, the rest of the car was standard. He said it would destroy all of the other cars around the track and is a very underrated car indeed. He said he was given the new VRS estate to write a column about in Autocar and was left very disappointed and is going to be a very overrated car in every way. He even went as far to say that they should never have produced a front wheel drive VRS estate like it as it's very wayward at the rear even in the dry and he lost it a couple of times where any other non sports car would have made the bend easily. He put it down to the rear anti roll bar being far too thick. He's also heard of a couple of gearbox failures within the first 500 miles
. I think i'll be sticking to the older VRS or a Lude from now on....

Sorry chuffers. This guy is spot on. I would rather have a pug and they are utter bum droppings. I have heard a few say that Skoda went old skool again.Tommy Twaite VRS wrote:I used to own a 4G Lude and have been looking around for a real mint S Type.
