Have you checked the condition of your spark plugs mate? I have a Golf that runs a tad rich, the resulting soot build up on the plugs makes her run like a dog, lots of missing and running lumpy at low revs but goes away in high revs. Might also be worth checking the brand too, iirc some of the guys on here have had trouble with Bosch plugs in particular, I hear the H22's prefer NGK plugs.
It could well be something else, but checking your plugs is free
and apologies if you've already checked and it sounds like I'm stating the obvious, I'm just starting at the bottom of the troubleshooting list!
