Hi, my names Matt and I'm looking for a prelude! Ive currently have a honda civic mb6, I'm on civic 5 forum and civiclife too. I've kinda got a a bit bored with my civic now, just want to get the 200bhp mark and it's gonna easily cost me in the region of £1500-£2000, so decided I'm probably gonna sell it and get a lude.
Got a few questions.
What do I look for? I mean what is 4ws?? And what's the difference between 4ws and 2ws?? I like both the 4th gen and 5th gen, maybe the 5th gen more. I want a manual with LSD and 200+ bhp so is there a specific model I have to look out for? And what's the common faults?? I know the rear arches with Hondas are nightmares. Sorry for the newbie questions.
Thanks

Welcome to LG.
4WS (Four wheel steer). Rear wheels turn the opposite way to the fronts under low speeds (~20mph) to help with the parking and nicer turning circle.
If you want to get a 200bhp car then you will have to try and find a Manual 99+ model with (H22A8 engine) or am imported 5g. UK 5G preludes didn't come with LSD but you can get the ATR gearbox and fit it directly to the prelude engines. There were some JDM preludes with LSD fitted from factory but that's hard to find plus your budget is low. So would just try to get H22A8 Motegi prelude instead.
What to look out for. Rust, if the car has 4ws then make sure it works, service history, usual checks.

Cheers for that info buddy, much appreciated.
4ws sounds pretty good, not to fussed if I get a 4ws or not though.
Ok so I haven't got that much to choose from really. So if I looked for a 190bhp+ prelude is there more of a range to choose from? Don't mind 4th gen or 5th gen really but would really like LSD. I should get at least £2000 for my mb6, is that enough for a decent model?
Cheers for the quick reply and all the info.

Welcome to LG mate.
With that money, look for a Type-S.
Doesn't have LSD, but has ATTS (Active Torque Transfer System); which is a comparable modern alternative.
The Type-S also has 217bhp stock..which should start you off quite nicely.
And for £2K, you should be able to get a pretty decent example (if you find anybody selling one, that is).
They do come up from time to time.

Hi and welcome
4th gen view
All JDM import 4th gens have 197bhp. UK's come with 185. but with a few breathing mods should make around 200.
All UK's have 4ws none came with LSD.
So if you're going down the 4th gen route you will be looking for an import with LSD, unless a UK has had one fitted later down the line (a few of us have)
£2k for a MB6? must be one hell of a clean mb6.
£2k should be enough to pick up a very clean lude. 4th or 5th, unless you're going for a Type S.

I echo what Nitin says, try and get a 1999+ H22a8. Compared to JDM Ludes it is cheaper to insure, uses cheaper fuel and is still 200bhp.

Thanks for all the help and info people, got to keep an eye out now.
Yea my mb6 is pretty clean, it's got meister zeta s suspension, cyberspeed lower control arms, rota grids on there wrapped in pirellis. Engine wise, got skunk 2 intake with custom air intake, 5zigen 4-2-1 manifold and straight through 2.5" skunk 2 exhaust system. P28 ecu all remapped and tuned to 182bhp. It's pretty fun to drive, but just want that 200bhp.

Like I said, go for the H22A8 Motegi version of the prelude.. It's 197bhp and with few simple mods you can easily get it to 200bhp.. LSD is good to have but do you actually need it? If you really need it then get the ATR gearbox and put that on the engine Would be a beast..

IF youve got a 182bhp MB6 then i a 200bhp lude isnt going to feel any quicker - i dont know what the kerb weight for an MB6 is but ludes start at 1250 kilos for a 4th gen BB4 which is the lightest one and most likely to have lsd on this model and go up to around 1375 kilos for a 5th gen BB8.
Not trying to put you off...there are a lot of things like handling that are better on the lude

Hi Matt,
Just from this forum;
Lovely 197 bhp 2ws, non-LSD 5th gen for sale
here
A decent manifold and intake should lift that to 200bhp
There's a 214bhp 5th gen Type-S for sale on here at the moment as well, but that's out of your budget I'm afraid (£2600 ovno)
