Hi All,
I have two Mk5 like its not enough to have one right!?
Well im that much in love with ludes that I plan on keeping one standard bar a few minor improvements

Now the most recent member is going to be kippered up!
Starting block is a H22A8 on a Black EUDM 2.2 VTi Manual.
Mileage is 104K.
Aiming for a reliable 300bhp with the assistance of a T3 turbo running approx 6psi.
Part of me is tempted to leave the block as is.. but slightly worried about reliability what with the 2.2 weakness.
Any help from any members who have done this appreciated, I am going to document everything from start to finish.
Look forward to talking to fellow lude heads.
Cheers

Turbo'ing stock H22's generally isn't a good idea. They usually don't last 12 months before they go bang. You will have to spend some money on making sure the engine can handle the extra pressure/ power before fitting the turbo kit.

6psi will be fine on the stock block. Just make sure the tune is good.
I run 6psi supercharged but I have not offered it enough mileage yet to comment on reliability.

You could hit 275bhp N/A without the reliability issue of a turbo build if you got to the right garage - Performance Autoworks

Its more the torque though.
I was driving around town in Leicester yesterday and my god its soo much fun to drive. Yes the superchagrer produced torque way sooner than a turbo but producing 4psi of boost at 2krpm is great pulling away as quick as many vtec without even tickling vtec.
But yes for the price you "could" get a nice NA setup and have great drivability.

Hi and Welcome
Would you have to have a turbo to get that kind of BHP im sure you could do a few other mods without the risk of complete engine failure, ive done a small bit of research and the F20A4 can take a turbo better than the H22 because the cylinder sleeves are iron and the h22 is aluminium or something like that and thats what causes the wear and eventual failure

Its the H22 piston ringlands that collaspe under pressure, thus the piston rings fail and you loose compression.
The H22 FRM linning is very very strong which is the reason why normal pistons wont work. They need a special coating.
Mahle do gold series pistons but they do eventually wear out according to some people.
Only way is to sleeve the block and go forged pistons.
