Hi Everyone
a pleasure to join this group :D

I recently bought a 5th Gen 2.2 auto 2WS. registered in 2000 but a blacktop. excellent condition with very low miles. It seems uncommon compared to the normal versions, any thoughts?

Welcome to the club mate :)

Is it a VTEC or is it a 2.2 non-vtec import with a painted valve cover? (Basically does it say VTEC on the valve cover?)

If it's a VTEC, does the block have H22a5 or H22a8 stamped on it?

A non-vtec 2.2 will be an F22b.

Hi And thank you for the welcome. It's a vtec UK model, all legit with new car delivery paperwork included. H22a5 engine. It even has a cassette radio. the spoiler has been added by the look of it?

Cool. I'm not sure of the crossover date from the a5 to the a8, but I'm sure others will chip in ;)

Pop up some pictures if you can. They love pictures on here :D

All 5G UK autos are H22A5

Not sure why it's 2WS, maybe someone removed it. :? Or it's there but just bulb removed

Hi RattyMcClelland

I agree with you about the 4WS but there's no evidence that it is? No lights on the dash and the rear wheels do not turn. Something to investigate when it's on ramps at the garage? There are two dates on the EC certificate, 30/9/1998 and 1/2/2000 which explains to me why it's the a5 and not the a8 engine for its age.
