Cracked windscreen

Hello all.
I've owned my 4G 2.3 since it was brand new in 1995, and I love it. But it's now got a big crack in the top nearside corner of the windscreen, so to get it through its MOT it'll need a new screen. The existing MOT runs out in a couple of weeks, and I can't find a new screen anywhere. The scrapheap beckons. Arrgh. Any suggestions of where I might find a replacement 4G windscreen would be gratefully received. Help!

im fairly sure it would have to be through the insurance if you want it replaced
i had a new front screen fitted thru my insurance by autoglass they also supplied a new fitting kit with trim for 4th gen
if you are going to be doing it yourself and find a screen it is worth mentioning that you can buy a low cost 5th gen (universal) moulding that does away with the need for seperate 4th gen fitting kit which is quite a few quid on its own ;)
vtecmec and wurlycornermight be able to give you some more info
hope you get it sorted :)

They're pretty hard to remove without breaking. So a scrappy isn't likely.
As said, if you have windscreen cover on your insurance, pay the £75 eccess or whatever it is thats probably the cheapest way.

I whipped my front screen out and refitted it with the 5th gen rubber trim. It was about £40 and no fiddly bits. Looks better too.

Thats a job id love to do on my BB1 but never plucked up enough courage to tackle it - ive had the 5th gen trim sitting in a box here for a while now

Many thanks for the comments & suggestions.
I tried going through the insurance, but Autoglass told me they couldn't get a new screen as they were no longer available. I checked with the local Honda dealership, and they couldn't get one either.
So unless I can find a screen from somewhere within the next couple of weeks, it looks like curtains for my poor old Prelude. Which would be sad anyway, but is even more galling cos it's running well and the bodywork is in decent-enough nick.
Still hoping for a miracle...

If it doesn't have to be glass, you could try these:-

This makes it look as if you can fit a 5G screen with minimal fettling:-

You have an intriguing user name: slow dog or an Italian record label?

I was thinking the same about screens for classic cars - surely there must be somewhere which specialises in this kind of thing? There's a car breakers based in Halifax called internetscrapyard.com which has a load of 4G & 5G Prelude parts on their website, but no windscreens sadly. I might e-mail them just on the off chance though. Can't do any harm.
And thanks for the links, Mr Sailor. The Lexan screens sound potentially interesting but I can't say I know much about them - anyone know how durable or practical (or even legal) for road use they are?

that does sound worrying that autoglass are saying they cant get a screen - there were plenty available a few years ago - the only issue was you would have to pay a small fortune for the JDM bronze tint one and have to wait for it to arrive but you could pick from UKDM green or blue tint which were in stock/readily available in the uk. :?
