Hi all, created an account today as I am now firmly on the hunt for a gen4 prelude, 2.2 Vtec.

I dreamed of owning this car after once getting a lift in one when I was 15. In fact I’m pretty sure that’s all I used to think about and I saved enough to buy a grey import when I was 18, even before I had my full driving licence. I passed my test to drive the prelude as I had no interest in virtually any other car, as opposed to passing my test just to drive.

Insurance was horrendously expensive and the car was insanely fast and used to get a lot of attention- this was even before the whole Fast & Furious franchise and well before the advent of cheap pcp deals- the car crowd was pugs, saxo’s, civics and the occasional E36 on parental day release.

I kept it for 3 years and then reluctantly sold on to a friend as I had another car by then and this had been left parked up. Sold on the basis that I would have first dibs when he came to sell, but the car was written off not long after.

Now much older but none the wiser, i am looking to relive that car. I do prefer autos now as I’m a lazy muffin so not fussed, but insist on the vtec model. Ideally would have a subtle kit already as I think the car looks to skimpy without one, the lines seem to tuck under where they should flow to a chunky finish. Not overly fussed on condition of body work as the car will be resprayed and id be looking to do a custom white leather interior- so really a full Gas Monkey type reveal.

Thanks for reading folks, if any one has any pointers on who may be selling so I can start my project please do let me know.

Thanks

Hi Drax

Thanks for this, hadn’t seen this one. It’s not bad, I’ll keep an eye on this, looks to be ending with no bids. It has no kit and was looking to avoid the hassle of importing a kit in addition to the upgrades I have in mind, but might be wishful thinking.

I’m based in Glasgow but currently working offshore, so happy to take my time on the search.

im always keeping an eye on the lude market so if i spot anything else ill try and let you know. getting one with a kit runs the risk of it hiding big rust issues that's all, plus depends what kind of kit your after as good quality popular kits are getting very very rare and extremely expensive! did you have anything in mind?

usually 4g ludes tend to pop up for sale on the south coast or in scotland lol so your ok there location wise :D

The lude Drax posted a link has some nice parts on it like the dsp sound system centre and rear speakers and looks like a rare green interior - might just be my bad eyesight though. It also has TCS and most likely M2B4 LSD gearbox. :)
There is also 4th gen auto for sale in Glasgow for less money - been up for sale for quite a while tho :?
will try and find a link to it
Edit: cant see it anymore so listing may have ended.

Pushki has mentioned in a post on here that he is selling his BB4 manual in silver. I would recommend you having a look at that one even though it means travelling down south ;) Sure Drax will back me up on that!

Hi vanzep- thanks! I’ll contact this guy to get some more pics and could get someone round to see it. Is this a new thing on eBay to have one price on the ad and then another price in the comments? Surely eBay would expect the main price to be paid?

The green one is back on at 1,100 but text in the A’s states 1,650 .. :wtf:

The cars are dying out for sure - I reckon in a few more years it will be either spares only and a few well looked after examples.

Prices are all over the place on Preludes. I have noticed some people chancing their arm and trying to sell 4th gens at 5 or 6 grand. Whether they sold at that is another matter.

Personally I would pay good money for a mechanically sorted rust free one, but not 5 or 6 grand. I would say 3 grand is a fair price for a good one. If it's rusty, bodywork is expensive to sort and even if you sort it, if the bodyshop is not that good, the rust might come back and/or the rear quarter paint won't match the rest of the car and look awful. So if there is rust, I would not really be willing to go above £1000.
