Hello all, newbie with a 5th Gen VTi auto checking in. We’ve had a couple of 4th gens in the family- both owned by little brother and they left an impression on me. I’ve normally driven Jags, including a 5.0 V8 XFR which was mad but the timing chain stretch issue popped up on mine meaning a lunched engine which was repaired badly under warranty. I’ve had a lease car for the last two years and now I fancied something old school to roll around in, and I picked this up last week:
Its done 87000 miles, has a (so far) non chocolate auto box, working 4WS and the all important 2.2:

Also a stack of receipts including a record of the cam belt being changed at 60000 miles about 5 years ago.
Did the 100 or so miles back home without breaking a sweat. Couple of immediate issues that I need to sort- bit of water leaking into the boot, I think it is from a misaligned rear bumper- is this a common issue?? I also need to invest in a double din CarPlay stereo, and maybe a reversing camera - I’ve seen the cheap eBay specials- does anyone have any experience of these or any recommendations for alternatives?
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.

LO
Welcome along matey
Very nice looking Lude
Water in boot is normally via rear light seals or drain plug from sunroof IIRC
Worth having an auto oil change if it hasn't been done in a while.
Is the oil luvly cherry red
Cheers
Toadster
PS I fitted a neat reversing camera to mine that connects to My Garmin satnav via wireless
I found judging rear distance while parking rather

Welcome along
Always liked the XFR, I had an SV8 for a while, lovely car. Didn't know about the timing chain issue though
Boot leak is almost certainly rear light seals

Cheers folks.
The box has nice clear non burnt smelling Ribena coloured oil. Shifts up and down are nice and smooth, no sign of any clunking. I haven’t tried the triptronic just yet but will do in the next few days. Is there a recommended place to get the oil changed? Heard lots of horror stories of the boxes going pop around 100k.
As for the parking- that’s how I found it when I went to go see it, honest!

Looks lovely! I've heard good things about performance autoworks around Gloucester way. Been meaning to take a trip up myself.

Hello and welcome!
Lude looks in great nic.
It's not that difficult to change the oil on the auto box yourself, if you fancy it. Instructions are in the oem service manual. If you don't fancy it yourself, where abouts are you based - we might be able to recommend someone near you.
