Newbie Door Rubber wire boot

Post by Hondagaz » Thu Jul 23, 2020 9:31 am

Hi guys, first time posting on here. I've recently got my hands on a 92 4th Gen. Just installed remote locking but couldn't get access to the rubber wire boots that run from the body to the door. Fingers/knuckles left bleeding as a result. Am I missing something really obvious?

On the 5th gen , i was able to push them out of the body from inside the car (by removing the interior panels), using my thumb to push the lip/seal out of the inner wing section.

As for getting them back in  I think you probably need to whip the wing off to be able to get the access to press them in and get them to seal properly. It would be pretty impossible to try and pull the lip back over the inner wing from inside.

I did this just a few weeks ago, you can pop them loose from the door and from the a-pillar, and get them back in if you have flat blade screwdrivers, pick tools and so forth.

As for feeding the wire through, a good technique is to get some stiff wire (welding or garden) feed this through the grommet/boots, tie your wire to it and then pull it through, feeding a wire on its own in nigh on impossible.

agreed. i use a long thin stick with a small nail on the end to wrap the wire around to feed them through
