Another Glasgow newbie

Post by C12HLL » Thu Mar 07, 2013 9:29 pm

Hi,

Today i bought my first Prelude. A 00' 5th gen 2.2 VTi manual in black. Having worked for Honda previously for 10 years i worked with these when they were new. Always liked them but got swayed by Civic Type R's firstly. I done a straight swap for my Subaru Legacy GTB so a bit of a drop in power but VTEC is too hard to resist.

First thing to be done will be a full service including all oils, fluids and timing belt. Thankfully i work for a motor factors now so won't be too sore on the pocket. Oh and a good clean as it was more than a bit dirty.

The only issue i have with it is a scab of rust on the 1/4 panel but is nothing serious and the rubbers on the inner rear arches were removed as soon as i had the keys.

Hope to meet some new people here and buy some parts. ;)

Chris

Welcome to LG mate. Congrats on the purchase 8-)

Smart move removing the rubber arch liners as they obviously encourage rust. If you plan on changing the gearbox oil, you can't put any old gearbox oil in. Most people opt for Honda MTF.

Hi Rob,

Cheers for the info. I have a ready supply of MTF 2 from the boy who is doing the service. Need to do the 4ws reset as well. So thanks to whoever put the how to up. That will be getting done tomorrow.

Welcome in Chris :)

Excellent choice! :D

Head north to the Lomond twisties or Campsie and enjoy how 4WS and double wishbones handle the bends.... I like Type R's too but I know which I prefer :D

With your history sounds like you might be another useful addition to the (frankly great) knowledge pool on here. :)
