Image Hosting Sites: - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

NOTE: PhotoBucket now charge $400pa to host your forum pics!

For multiple images go photobucket http://www.photobucket.com/ and register.

Up load your picture to photobucket.

Click on the image and there will be a selection of boxes on the right hand side. You want to copy code from either the "IMG" box or the "direct" box. IMO use the direct link and add the IMG tags on the forum as the IMG box on Photobucket adds a load of link guff. Plus the direct image link allows the forum the option to display the full size image.

From the IMG box

Code: Select all

From the Direct box

Code: Select all

Either post the code from the "IMG" box or paste the code from the "Direct" box and wrap the code in IMG tags found in the bar above the box you write in.

TinyPic
For one off pics, or you dont want to register, you can use http://tinypic.com without registering. Images posting with TinyPic may have a finite lifespan (ie they may be deleted by TinyPic after a period of time or through lack of use).

Or

http://imgur.com which is just like tinypic.

Posting pics from an iPhone

Download photo bucket as an app.

Register yourself an account with Photo bucket

Once done, click on upload media down the bottom.

Click on the image you want to upload, and then you will see the "i" down on the bottom right.

Hopefully this should come up:

Go onto the forum post you want to put a picture in, and paste it in and it will do the rest just post the comment.

If you see a load of [IMG] codes then you have done it. Just submit to post and your done! Simples!

Videos

On LudeGeneration it is possible to post widescreen and high definition youtube/vimeo videos. Just paste the link for the video into your post and the forum will automatically display the video correctly.

I think the point is the member wants to attach their pic a.s.a.p. It took me 70% of my time trying different ways of loading.

LG does not support attached images as it sucks up resources, our mebership is free and hosting is paid for from Kawa's pocket or donations. Plus attached images are gash. On other forums I dont even bother to look at attached images. Linking images is not difficult, unless you are trying to link pics from Facebook .

I really do think it should be added that if you don't want the hassle of signing up somewhere, you can upload individual images through several other sites, e.g. http://www.tinypic.com

I don't work for them or anything but it's the best solution I've found. No registration needed, just choose your file, enter the code and it uploads, giving you all the links you need at the end. Of course if you have a lot of images to upload it can be slow and you are better off using something like Photobucket, but for the people who want to just add an image or two it's ideal.

Photobucket is ideal for those with build threads, wanting to show off a part, etc.
Tinypic is ideal for those who just have a question/need help that is best explained by a picture or something.

Attached images are indeed Clubbing Eddy. So annoying when you go to view something on another forum and you can't view it because of permissions, especially when it's the only thing you want to see.

Another great drag & drop image hosting service is http://imgur.com

You can either just upload odd files, or create an account.
