Hia, Do not own anything yet, however I want to lurk around and find a bit of information about these cars.

I love the look of Honda’s throughout the 80's and have always wanted to own something, being quite young insurance is a huge issue for me. I thought to go as basic and safe as possible so started looking at Accords, after comparing it seemed these cars were impossible to insure. I moved on to the CRX (staying away from the De-sol) and the prices were even worse. I did not think a prelude would be cheap at all but after giving it a go it turned out to be great (relative to a 18 year olds kind of price range). I can’t explain why the legend is so much cheaper than a accord, would be great if someone could shine some light on it for me. Maybe I should look at a legend!

Anyway I love the 2nd and 3rd generation, but like most Hondas I think all the generations look great! I prefer the idea of keeping cars stock and not modifying them. I do understand that realistically I will end up with a mk2 VW polo (even if it is a step before I get somthing more powerfull) but I can dream right!

Thanks for reading, Will probobly not be on this forum allot, might lurk every now and then! Feel free to say hi or slap some sense into me!

Welcome along mate :) glad to see you're choosing a Honda as your first car!

Insurance is going to be a bugger on anything really, I'm 22 and I pay more to insure my 1988 Scirocco than I do on my 1987 Accord, even though compared to the Accord the Scirocco is slow  in the end I just usually take the hit on insurance, imo I'd rather pay more and drive the car I want!

Welcome to the forum.

It may well pay to get yourself a shitter as a first car. It will enable you to earn some no claims bonus, and will be much cheaper to insure. I've always thought that you should expect to have an accident in a first car.

Then get a Lude to celebrate a year of clean driving 8-)

Welcome to LG. :)

Don't think it will make much difference what car you insure in your first year - they will take both legs and arms if you let them!
