New Prelude owner

Post by gwynaax » Sun Jun 09, 2013 6:37 pm

Hi All,

I have just bought my first Japanese car. 4th Gen prelude. Si 2.2 vtec import. Just drove it 100miles back from Taunton to Swansea. WOW what a thrill, Ive just come out of a audi a4 20 valve turbo, and cannot beleive how quick this prelude is. I do have a few questions I would like some advice on:-

Limiter - The car seems to have a speed limiter at 180 kph... can i take this off

Rad fan - one of the radiator fans rattles when it is running (the one on the left if you are stood over the engine bay looking down) Is this a common problem. easy to fix.

Wheel vibration - I get wheel vibration if im cruising in low revs ie below 3krpm not accelerating or decelerating.

Any advice welcome

Thanks

Gwyn

Welcome to LG.

Nice choice on upgrading from a Audi.

You can take the limiter off and there's a guide and 'how-to' on here. And I think you should get your wheels balanced first. No idea about the rad fans, someone will come and help you. :D

wheel vibe could just be a balance the limiter will be the speedo converter and where its fitted the left fan is the engine cooling fan the right one is for ac

Thanks,

I just noticed when I was giving it a clean. It looks like 2 of the wheels have a flat spot on them...:'(

Ill put them both on the back for now till I can afford new ones. They are 17s, any suggestions on a good size for a balance between look and handling/acceleration.

Welcome aboard.

I have a set of radiator fans for sale, they are from a 5th gen....so someone will have to confirm if they are the same as 4th gen ones.

Im not sure if the problem is the fan itself, or just the mounting/fitting of it...
