4gen pre facelift to facelift

Post by jonja » Wed Apr 03, 2013 1:18 am

Will it fit? Im just worried about middle part where handbrake is, cause it looks like handbrake position will be moved and how hard is it to do?
And same with mirror switches

Quick question, how did you relocate the handbrake? Looking to do this at some point, was it fairly straightforward?

There is also a mid face lift version, no sex blocker but no need to relocate the handbrake.

For a full face lift conversion I believe you'll need new handbrake cables and you'll have to cut and weld the tunnel section where the handbrake sits.

No cutting or welding was needed.. i even used the prefacelift handbrake and cables ;)

You will need to bend the front bracket so it can bolt to the side of the tunnel.
Then used a turn buckle to extent the cables.

Cost me £5

Just about to do the same thing in my car. What sort of turnbuckle did you use lucas? Seen loads of different types and don't want to get the wrong one - need to try do the job in one go as I'm using the car daily.

I've thought about getting one with the same thread/pitch as the existing turnbuckle, and then screwing one end onto the existing tb and chopping the end off the hook/eye on the other end to leave behind just the rod (if that makes sense) - onto which I connect the existing bracket thingy with the brake cables attached. Would that work?
