New cooling coil fitted - brass monkeys

Post by simonc » Fri Feb 26, 2016 4:34 am

Hi all,
Finally got round to giving the air-con a good going over. Gas pressure was good but on the long runs to Singapore, it was noticeable that the air-con was running out of puff about three-quarters of the way into the drive. The fan was running but the air was warm, which made the cabin pretty unbearable.
I found that if I put my hand on the coil unit, under the passenger footwell, it was frozen and condensation was evident from my wet hand.
Anyway, we got hold of this new unit and gave the system a good once over. Of course, it's working well now (actually, it gets cold in the cabin very quickly now) so there's another box ticked in the Blue Beauty's rebuild schedule. :D

Astonishing how filthy the old one is, isn't it? :o

@wurlycorner. All credit to Jason and his guys for the work. I just stood around, pointing at stuff, asking daft questions. :D
It's so nice having fully functional air-con though. ;)
