Spoiler water leak...?

I went off to get the shopping yesterday. I opened the boot and about a cup of water or two came out of the boot itself. I'm assuming this is the spoiler gasket thats leaking. Weird as its a lot of water for not much rain and the leak seems to have happened all of a sudden. Does anyone know of any good gasket stuff to use? I will have to get some on order. It looks to be a similar gasket to whats used in the rear lights currently. I am also interested to see if anyone else has had this problem? Stay safe :D

Yes they do leak. You can use tigerseal but you wont be able to remove it once its in place or ive used Indasa car body sealer which is a bit like a thicker version of the Honda Grey sealant used around rocker cover etc.
Normally its quite difficult to trace leaks into the boot - usual to check sunroof drain tubes first and then work back - other things like rear light cluster gaskets are also prone to leak...

I was thinking more along the lines of the standard gaskets. Ive been looking and found this 2mm stuff i might give that a go.

Also the leak is actually into the boot itself, water leaks out of it when i open it. So really can only be the spoiler. There is not water in the spare wheel area until i open the boot and it all leaks out. Hope you know what i mean lol. Maybe after it rains again i will get a video.

Thanks.

I replaced all the gaskets on my boot a few years back (cool gen though), used a closed cell foam like you linked and it did the job nicely. Given how the 5th gen boot only has a spoiler and boot lock, I'm sure if you replace those it'll sort you issue out.

If it does and you have some spare then your welcome to send it to me :D
only kidding - but sure you will get it fixed and at least you spotted it straight away- its the mysterious leak into the spare tyre well that you have to beware of ;)

Yep, I've always replaced mine with sticky-backed closed cell foam from eBay when I've changed spoilers and no problems with leaks

I've used plastazote closed cell foam for this before mounted with a spray adhesive. I don't like the sticky-backed stuff anymore. Bought some a while back and the stick was pretty much non-existent. Apparently, they only have about a 2-year shelf life. Adding the glue when you mount it means that the tack will keep for longer.
