Foot plate removal 5G

Hey all,

Trying to remove the foot plate to get to the ecu. Having real trouble getting to the screw on the top right. Any tips?? :evil:

Also, anything i should/should not do when removing ecu?

Just checking to see if there has been any modification to the ecu. Previous owner said that it was chipped but claimed that it was the work of a previous owner and he had no knowledge of it. Tend to think that it hasn't been, but want to check it before i send the car in to get ATTS fixed, ruling this out as a reason why it is not working.

Cheers! :D

I do not know about the ECU but have you pulled the codes for the ATTS and why it is not working?

Disconnect the battery would be the first thing to do.

For the screw, you need a flex socket extension if you can get one or a straight extension and some time.

I believe it's an OBD2 ECU, so basically an aftermark 'chip' / off the shelf affair isn't really an option

Cheers Alex! Flex socket did the trick, why did i not think of that :lol:

Sha- yeah i pulled the codes ages ago, left oil pressure sensor. Think there is a small leak there too which might explain it. Just want to rule out everything before i send it in to Honda.

Oh and there are 2 ecu's down there. Which one do i wanna look at, left or right??? :lol:

I'm sure the JDM ECU is square. Apparently the code is P5P for the ECU.

The pin out on the main ECU should look like this;

Arn't all 5th gen ECU's P5P?

Umm, don't know. I know the JDM one is a different shape, so guessed that would be a different design and subsequently a different code...

Could be wrong tho :lol:

The bigger 1 is your ecu and the other is your ATTS control unit bud.

I removed these a couple of weeks ago and I used a quarter inch ratchet with a small extension bar to remove the footplate ;)
