Opinions Please
Evening All,
Right I have had an idea growing for a while and think I may have found a way to do it.
I want to spend some time sorting out my interior into something different this year. The seats (or some S2000/EP3 seats if I can get them) are up for a retrim. I have a mate who's Dad was a Rolls trimmer and is a bit good at that sort of thing. So that side of it is sorted.
Beyond that I like this. A Lot
I have acquired some 3M paint. Now normally I am completely against painting interiors as it usually involves a can of halford's special, someone who can't paint and lots of runnage and then peelage later on.
The paint on a spare door insert vinyl (It is slightly brighter red than the pic appears) :
Now this is probably going to sound like BS. But the paint is a soft feel suede finish. It does feel like suede. Apparently done with microscopic bits of neoprene in the paint mix. It was developed and used for the interior surfaces of the of the Space Shuttle and the requirements were :
1. Have excellent Anti-static properties.
2. Be chemically inert.
3. Absorb scattered light and be totally non-reflective.
4. Be very hard wearing and scratch resistant.
5. Be resistant to stains and easy to clean.
6. Be warm to the touch.
7. Non fading.
It is the genuine paint, not a knock off. So it is a fairly safe bet that is will not provide me with stylish peeling
It sticks to anything. And the panel I painted above have been dried hard for 3 weeks now sat on a radiator in my house and you can screw it up in a ball and flatten it again and it doesn't crack or peel.
So.......
Should I do it......

You can get some good deals, I bid on some seats for my gen 4 and won for 10 quid when I went to get them the guy said what ever you can remove from the car take it f o c.
And at our local scrappy they had a gen 5 that was about to be crushed a two guys paid 20 quid and were told they could have anything they could remove in 10 minutes

This stuff really does. It feels like flocked/suede finish. It is pretty hard to describe unless you have seen/felt it.
It is soft to the touch. I have never seen a paint like it before. I showed it to a paint rep from one of the big manufacturers and even he had no idea it was available and said they had been trying to develop similar for years.

What paint is this anyway? And what colours are available?
Or is this something only you have acquired one way or another?
