You will need to bend the front bracket so it can bolt to the side of the tunnel.
Then used a turn buckle to extent the cables.
Cost me £5
Just about to do the same thing in my car. What sort of turnbuckle did you use lucas? Seen loads of different types and don't want to get the wrong one - need to try do the job in one go as I'm using the car daily.
I've thought about getting one with the same thread/pitch as the existing turnbuckle, and then screwing one end onto the existing tb and chopping the end off the hook/eye on the other end to leave behind just the rod (if that makes sense) - onto which I connect the existing bracket thingy with the brake cables attached. Would that work?
I will get a picture of it for you

Cheers pal
sorry forgot to do this lol
Ive went and took some pics just now as my interior is stripped anyway
You will need to go to a hardware store and get a turnbuckle (as pictured below) and you will also need a few bolts and a drill
As you can see in this pic I have pointed out the original mounting pount, i had to drill new holes which were VERY fiddly to get a nut and bolt to pair up :/
I had to go under the car while a friend tightened the bolts up.
in this pic you can see I had to bend the bracket on the handbrake
This is the turnbuckle, the hand screws into one end while the other end has a loop ( which I put a bolt through)
and that's it done

Just reallocated the handbrake yesterday.
I bent the front attachment to the other side, so it can be mounted on the top of the tunnel.
I used:
Facelift handbrake handle
a part of old handbrake thread, to extend FL handle to connect to the brake cables. No cable replacement is needed, I'm just thinking to remove one of the cable holder bolts to align it in an angle a bit.
I did not drill the bottom layer of the tunnel, so I welded a support metal and a nut, and welded it to a tunnel just to strengthen it. I suppose, a hole in bot layers and a bigger hole in the lowe layer could allow you to unstall some washers and a nut w/o welding.
