Anyone used the Vanish stain removal powder that you dilute?

Obviously I'll do a test run somewhere hidden before I do the whole lot, but I'm wondering how well it will work.

I'm on Easter holidays at the moment so have some time to kill

Before any of you say: I don't have a pressure washer, not going to rent a Rugdoctor thing. At least not tomorrow.
This Vanish jobby is just what I have to hand.
Carpet isn't in the car either so that's not a problem.

Or does anyone have any alternatives?




Also about removing/refitting a carpet:

Sill things out, seats out, centre console out, I know that much
The bottom anchor point bit for the seatbelt, what do? Had a look earlier when I was queueing for petrol but didn't do a proper investigation. Did look to see if there was anything on here but couldn't find. I'm sure it's obvious once I actually look properly though.

Carpet cleaning.....mug munching. Same thing.

I've used Vanish power foam from a spray can before. It worked alright, although it can leave sort of water mark things where you've only cleaned that local area. That was only really noticeable on the lighter fabrics I cleaned though. The other downside was that there's no way to lift it out the fabric again easily, so your car can smell of Vanish for a bit

Best thing I've ever done was used a carpet washing hoover thingy my parents gave me. It cleaned the carpets from my Golf and Scirocco back to new, and they were savage to start with. The Golf carpet had been underwater all winter, and made me want to be sick when I smelt it Most carpet shampoos contain Scotchgaurd or similar too, so next time you j.izz/spill coffee/etc. all over your interior it should come out easily

the one thing i have learned about carpet cleaning is it will always come up better second time round with water.

You need to rinse it as it were.

Makes sense, after all washing machines have a rinse cycle

If the weathers decent tomorrow I'll sling it in the garden and have a go

First wash I mixed up a bucket of Vanish oxy action, dipped a soft broom in it and gave it a light scrub like that, then rinsed straight away, let it dry in the sun. Second wash I mixed another bucket up, poured it all over and left it for about 30 mins in the shade, rinsed it off and left it in the sun.



Probably needs another rinse and a brushing, then dry and hoover it.

So I started removing everything in the way just now. TypeS seats are out and getting leather treatment. Found some collection of orangey brown sticky stuff under the rear seat so that's been cleaned up. Centre consoles are getting mixed and matched to for parts in the best condition.

Current black carpet is actually in excellent condition, not a patch is threadbare at all and as far as I can tell there are no fag burns, rips or anything. Just needs a hoover, might give it a quick clean like the red one and put it up for sale if anyone wants theirs replacing.

Fack. I can't find the tool thingy to fit in there. I have one somewhere but can't find it at all.

yeah you need a small 10mm socket on an extension bar, i use a quarter inch ratchet for that

I have those things because I used them to get everything else out, just nothing skinny enough to fit I have one somewhere around here because I used it when getting my bumper off a few weeks ago it's just playing hide and seek.

Are you positive it's 10mm? It seemed smaller than that!

yes very positive as i have just removed 1 today a 10mm socket out of a quarter inch ratchet set should fit in there no probs bud.
