Got a car that isn't a Lude? There's no condemnation here. Tell us about it!

Blimey, can you imagine.

Although someone has already done an electric s2000
Utilising tesla motors. Apparently it is epic fast.

Not sure though, I think i prefer the f20c engine

Some epic posting/updates there! I enjoy reading your posts - your car is always so clean and pictures so good, an inspiration to us all. The last thing i think of doing is busting out the camera and get oil all over it or scratch it when half the car is in bits!

I always wondered what the car to replace the lude would be - s2000 seems like a natural progression, but prices are only going up along with the work required (and I suspect parts are not as cheap as other hondas?).

Thanks scott, comments means alot :)
I do try hard keeping it clean, it is a major battle as it sort of lives under trees so the car can get in a right state if left alone for too long.
It is lucky I enjoy cleaning cars. haha, but it can take its toll at times. Especially having no mains running water outside and having to lug downstairs a portable pressure washer. haha. Never had the privilege of having/owning a karcher jet wash. Ahhh the dream! lol.

I had the same feeling before too, never was bothered with taking photos before. It was always my brother who was keen on photography. Its definitely grown on me now and always wanted to know how to use a DSLR camera. I always make it a priority to document everything as with all these things you just don't know how long we can keep luxuries like this.

I thought the same as you, with an s2000 being a natural progression having previously owned a 1999 2.2 vti Prelude.
I really had to scratch that s2000 itch, as I would probably really regret not owning one when cars disappear and we are all driving around in batteries. lol.
Really glad I did though, as you say prices are going up although I think they are stabling now.
I have to agree with you though, second hand parts for the s2000 are alittle bit more expensive when compared to the Prelude, but the good thing with the s2000 is that Honda sold around 8000 units in the UK so there are plenty of them around and parts are still readily available from Honda UK (coxmotorparts/tegiwa etc)

That engine is amazing though, 9000 rpm never gets old.

I've just been catching up on this brilliant thread.

Quick question: why did you go through the Netherlands on the the way to the Ring?

Thanks Sailor

Ahh - It was a slight detour, we quickly visited one of the extended family members of the guy who owns the MX5.
Didn't really document that part as it was just a hi have a quick lunch and we drove off. lol.

Quite a famous video of an s2000 vs a BMW m4 on the Nurburgring.

Just goes to show the capability of the s2000 in the right hands :)
Great to watch.

Thanks for your detail write-ups. I have migrated myself from a couple of 4th Gen VTEC cars to a S2000 back in 2013. Enjoyed your build so far. Many of the things you have already done are on my to-do-list. I have other priorities at the moment, leaky rear damper and rear seized bushes to finish. lucky my mot has been extended til Jan 21 so i have time to get the work done.

Shortly to get both rear wheel arches repaired with panels we have had made. Its been about 9 months in the making but nearly there.

Thanks h10ndr, glad you have enjoyed reading it. I have another update to come from the little things I have done so far during lock down.
Been busy writing it up.
Havent really used the s2000 that much this year for obvious reasons, hopefully there are more fun times ahead.

I saw that thread on s2ki where there was a group buy for quarter arches. I have to say they looked good from the photos. Really intrigued as to how well they install.
Who are you using to get the arches done for you?
I am currently looking for a good body shop to get a respray done on the s2000.

After lots of shopping around for sensible quotes to do the job, we found a garage very local to me called Finishing Touch Autos (BD2 2DD), who are a small family run business but he was very willing to take the job on and he was the best quote we had. I say we, because myself and Don Smith went to see him to get both ours done. Leigh, the owner, does the fabrication and welding and he has a Polish car painter who comes in to do the paint prep and painting.
I have had mine done and its turned out very good. Don, is having his done on the 19th Oct and another s2k is booked in for middle of November. All have the panels from the group buy. Another s2k from Otley is booking in for December I think, he's just waiting for delivery of his panels which he ordered outside of the group buy. So, I think FTA's will become the local s2k specialist at this rate.

I've also asked him to paint my hardtop from MC Blue to Berlina Black, which he is doing in a few weeks. Again at very reasonable cost.

Me and Don, have a few other exciting projects on the go. We've contacted a local motorcycle and vehicle trimmer to see if he can redo our seat bolsters and pad, and replace the worn leather. Don is getting his done and we will report back. Also, we've asked him to try make a replica set of the Honda Mats, to see if he can make them a lot cheaper for everyone.
