I'm not saying that makes it ok/not annoying and not being unsympathetic, just saying it's always been common practice to put wheel weights on the outside rim on steelies, so unless told otherwise, it's perhaps not surprising that they did exactly that?

Yeah, but you'd think anyone 'doing their job' would want it to look aesthetically pleasing -if possible- wouldn't you wurly? and therefore only put them on the outside if they had to?
Or are people just grunts nowadays?

This is pretty much this. They said they always put weights on the outside of steelies.
But the guy has absolutely no common sense.
Could he not have worked out that these are no ordinary steels. They are wide and banded and painted nicely.
Thats whats annoyed me most. No common sense.
Iv had a look at the damage and its not too bad. I can repair them easily. Just annoying. Ill only need to respray the outside lips.
BUT they look GOOOD.
235/55/17 on all 4 and a nice stretch. Once the fronts have worn down ill put 225/55/17 on the fronts.
They will be fitted in 2 weeks time with the coilovers. Van is getting slammed.

I'm super impressed that you get such good results when you always seem to paint outside!!

Depends on the day and how big a panel im spraying. On a warm day and white cars i get bugs landing in the wet lacquer. Pain in the ass......
Also a bodyshop isnt the bee all and end of of perfection.
I resprayed my lude in a bodyshop and got at least 3-4 dust nibs per panel.
But mainly only I will notice them.

I always love the way Ratty makes it seem so quick and simple to paint outside, awesome finish every time though.
