go to the chinese take aways and collect their oil,

they lightly fry so there is less water in the oil.

you can buy 20l of svo for £15 if you dont want your car smelling of crispy noodle... you will just be changing over your fuel filter a lot more often. bigger bonus if you ask me.

these old ones take anything. and you can go anywhere fast cars cant go

nice. i got some chunky off road tyres if you are looking. 31 10.50 15

I had pondered about the fact that there isn't fuel duty on it, so is it not legal to run in your motor? :?
It's legal. IIRC you have to be using in excess of something like 2500 litres per year before you have to pay anything, but I think I read something about you having to have something periodically tested to make sure it meets standards blah blah blah. No one will ever know anyway so just keep it hush.

Yes its 2500 litres a year according to HMRC. I wonder how they check that though?

Your meant to keep a record of how much you use.

Some time ago I got into my Isuzu at work, switched it on and the electric antenna shot out the wing and fell on the floor - presumably because some of my colleagues were watching  Anyway, I bought a new mast but it wouldn't feed into the motor and I have been lazy since and put off investigating further. Today however I finally pulled my finger out and sorted it :D I ended up having to remove the wheel arch liner, and pull the whole motor unit from the wing. I then stripped this down, where I found some remnants of the old mast which were stopping the new mast feeding in. I cleared these out, reassembled and crossed my fingers... I'm pleased to report that the power antenna now functions properly again 8-)

An EGR delete kit arrived today:

8-)

I will get this fitted at the weekend, or sooner if possible. No idea if my EGR valves are functioning or not, but for £9 I may as well bin them :)

Yea get shot of it mate. I have disabled mine. You can't blank the EGR on the 3.0. I would say it's loads better, especially on part throttle. No hesitating ect. :D :D

Seeing as it's fairly good weather out I decided to get stuck right in to it this eve:

Bit of oil present at the turbo :? Not sure if this has come from the engine breather though as it's on the intake side. At any rate there's no play in the shaft :)

More general disassembly:

Removing these studs was a ball ache:

Bollocks:

Blanking plates on inlet side:

All blanked off:

Then I just had to put it all back together again, wasn't eventful and my camera ran out of batteries so no pics.

I shortened and blanked both vacuum hoses that were left flapping about. In doing so I found that almost all the hoses need replacing as they're either cracking or just falling off their connectors  The hose that runs to the fuel pump to increase the output when on boost had come off too, I think this was as a result of me being clumsy but we shall see tomorrow. That one definitely needs replacing as it slides off if you so much as look at it :?

So there we go, all done. Will be interesting to see if I notice any difference, as the EGR valves weren't actually too dirty.
