Farlow's aerodeck VTI-S

It wasn't until I bought it last year. I'll post the story behind it from my build thread on civic5.

I bought it last year to replace my aerodeck VTI that was fairly tired and needed to much work and a little too much money spending on it. My thoughts were that the VTI-S is much more rare and has the body kit already fitted so I would be much more inclined to spend a little cash on it. Also the guy that was selling it told me it was in mint condition. I traveled from the north east all the way to Southampton only to find it was far from mint. It had car park dings all over the bodywork and scuffs on every single piece of the splitter kit. The rear bumper was damaged beyond repair and the front one had a few scuffs and scrapes. The headlights were badly faded and the interior was filthy.

It was however in good mechanical order and I got it for just over £1000 with the intention of making a good one out of two bad ones. I swapped every piece of interior and trim from my old car and fully cleaned everything else. I swapped all the mods including the wheels over also but the car still looked a bit rough.

Anyway I decided that I was going to go the the mimms honda day in it so I thought it best that I tidied it up a bit. I had all of the dings removed and the entire splitter kit, front and rear bumpers, all of the door trims and a mid spoiler that I bought off eBay resprayed. I also had the rear windows tinted and detailed the entire car from top to bottom.

Also my first aerodeck had a brand new headlight fitted not long before I bought it. Unfortunately the other one was as badly faded as the ones on the new one. That meant I had very odd looking headlights so I treated it to a brand new oem honda item so that they now look as they did when it left the showroom.

I also have the MG ZS ARB and shocks and springs on mine. Is how it should of been from factory IMO Good job matey, look uber

Yeah the mg ZS setup went on straight away but the Eibach springs were only done last month. It's weird though because the ZS struts lowered it more at the back but putting the Eibach springs on has lowered it more at the front. Still looks good though IMO.

Yea I have stuck with MG springs. I did the Fork mod that (cant remember his username ) did on civic5 to the front. Dropped it enough for me anyway

Bringing them both to JAE? (You know I'm not going to stop asking!)

Maybe someday I'll bring them all to jae but I'd have to find a couple of drivers that I really trusted and about £500 in petrol money.

ECU Upgrade

After quite a bit of research and some advice from some guys over on civic5 it appears that there is a simple ECU upgrade for the b18c4 engine fitted to my aerodeck. The mod not only gives you an immediate boost in hp but enables you to chip the ECU at a later date.

So to start with I managed to find a P72 ECU from a USDM integra GSR on eBay.



The integra runs a b18c1 engine which is pretty much identical to the b18c4 yet the integra has roughly 10 more hp. I've been told that it down to the ignition map so this ECU should be an immediate upgrade.

Once I had the ECU in my possession I set about modifying the pin outs to suit my car.



The yellow link is for the vtec oil pressure sensor



And the purple link is for the IAB's.

The next mod is to the connecting plug, the uk civic is a OBD2 car but has an OBD1 loom so the outer location tabs need shaving off the plug to get it to fit.





Then it's just a case of plugging it back in and doing a full ECU reset.

The car did feel noticeably more aggressive straight away, I was hoping to get it on the rollers at the national meet but spam speed put a stop to that. So it is as yet untested but for a mod that only cost me £70 I didn't think it was half bad.
