Do a search on Google for people fitting it and you'll get an idea of the bracket to make

Unless you want to remove the PS completely? I'm not suggesting you do, but it is an option. You can loop the lines on the rack and put the cover plate back to hide it. Just depends on whether your MOT guy is an asshole or not as now he knows it did have PS.

With regards to the MR2 electric pump. I've never looked into it, but I believe you can just mount it to the bulk head.

you don't need to change the rack just loop the lines. Ebay is the place for the pump best mounted on the bulkhead or on the inner wing, you can mount it low should you wish to tuck your bay at a later date

the MR-S pump comes on 3 rubber mounts, so make sure you mount on these and not directly to body.

the bracket is pretty easy to make and you can hide in the boot if you want to keep it disreet ;-)

The boot is a seriously long way to be running the hydraulic lines though!

but distance from the rack doesn't really matter whatsoever, it's more about a convenient space to install it.

mine fits in my engine bay on the EK civic in the place where the battery would be on a lude ;-)

Update on this to close it out. Turns out I was able to make the a8 power steering pump fit without too much effort!

Used a slightly shorter 3 rib belt instead of a standard length 4 rib belt and hey presto, OEM power steering :)
