Meet Nigel Steve the Golf
Mate wanted shot of this as it's prob not gonna pass another MOT due to one of the sills needs welding
1995 1.9 Tdi Estate with 169k on the clock MOT till October Tax till December
The rust was free and picked it up with the gauge in the red, drove it home an hour and a half and the light hasn't come on yet (If it works)
It actually doesn't go too bad, it only has 90bhp but the torque makes up for it
All in all I'm quite happy for the £150 I parted with for it

Re: Meet Nigel Steve the Golf
Nah My mate called it Nigel, but with the drifting every car/trailer/scooter is called Steve. But as i've nicked named my mates new car a MR2 roadster "Clown Shoe" I'm stuck with him calling my car Nigel lol
We have a 1.8 Auto Mk3 golf estate as well, fecking shocking on MPG, it's almost on par with the Lude if i drive the lude sensibly

50mpg plus is a winner, hoping to run it on Veg oil as well to further reduce running costs

Re: Meet Nigel Steve the Golf
Was gonna mix it with Diesel, need to see what it will run but 4thgenphil runs his merc on a 50/50 mix
Even if i buy veg oil from tesco for £1 a litre i'm still at least 30p a litre better off, over a full tank that's a lot

I read you can get away with 100% veg oil in the old Golf engines, however the increased viscosity when the car is cold means they can be buggers to start, and wears the fuel pump faster. Apparently pure veg oil mixed with white spirit or even petrol is also used by some people I will be doing the same as you when I get mine though, starting with a 50/50 mix and aiming to go up to something approaching 90/10 if it still starts ok. Need to find some catering suppliers so I can buy the stuff in bulk, maybe time to get a cash and carry card
At any rate will be interested to see how you get on with your Golf
