This civic was acquired for a relatively small amount of money to use as parts for the ED6 civic.. most of all I wanted the engine, gearbox and manual conversion parts..

The car was actually more complete than the ED with nearly a full interior and all its body work “mostly” intact.. :?

I do have headlights but they are not great, ones of no use really…

Once the engine was out the plan was to strip it and rebuild it and hopefully run twin webbers with it in the ED…. However..

Image

Cylinder 1 big end was utterly obliterated.. others were in poor shape too but I thought no worries I’ll get the crank machined and build it to an even higher spec… :lolno:
Sent the crank away only to be told it was scrap, couldn’t find another crank so I threw in the towel on that idea and bought another engine with 100k KMs on it for about $300..

Nice and clean inside too..

At this point I’m thinking this is becoming too much hassle for very little reward (under powered non VTEC civic) so i decided to get the EK running as cheaply as possible to sell on…

This car is at my work place so I’ve been doing little bits here and there in my spare time and Im quite enjoying the cheap fun this car represents, I just go into work and have a bit of a tinker.. god knows what it will end up like, but it’s all good fun..

The engine is in and it’s all up and running now so next up is body work… :)

Pressure washed the carpet

Cleaned primed and painted exhaust

Made a temporary side exit exhaust

Also stripped the spare steering rack and “kind of” converted it to non power steering :?

I’ve been stripping this car down slowly ready for full re spray..
Image

Image

Fitted an old bucket seat and my sparco steering wheel to try get it feeling abit more race car and because I had no seats for it so was a pain moving the car around the yard
Image

So it’s basically stripped now so today I washed the dust and crap off of it ready to be sanded filleted and prepped for paint..

It looks a fun project. Will you be spraying it yourself?

You should sell the “Sh**box badge and sticker.

There are plenty of cars out there that deserve it.

Been trying to get some time over Christmas break to paint this nugget but it’s proving difficult with two kids and my wife having been sick this week..
I did have a day on it last week, the weather was against me as we had a huge storm and lots of rain so any painting was out of the question but I did do some repairs the the front bumper..

The crack was quite nasty but I ground a groove in it and filled it with epoxy then ground and sanded it back, next step I’m going to buy some plastic bumper filler and smooth it out properly, I’m also going to add some strength from the inside using some wire or mesh melted into the crack.. but that’s to come…
Other than that the day was spent removing old masking tape, generally inspecting the car to see what else needs attention, I also fixed and tidied up the headlight wiring which someone had butchered..
Hopefully tomorrow I’ll get some more time on it and further prepare for paint..
