Great to see it rolling again 8-)
How comes the box has suddenly died? That doesn't seem to make much sense???

Honestly couldn't tell you. It hasn't been used for exactly 2 years so it could just be that it's got drokked from sitting around doing nothing, I really don't know. But it's definitely got enough ATF, cables adjusted correctly etc, so only thing it could be is something internal like a valve stuck, meaning it'd need to be ripped apart.

It ran fine when it was last on the road but these gearboxes are known for not being very good longevity wise from what I've read, a LOT of people have issues with them regardless of mileage, so it could just be poor luck or coincidence. Annoying - but at least I'm finally getting the manual swap I've always wanted, got to see the positives, especially with the luck I've had with this car so far

Hell yes! We'll have to start planning and scoping out places now that Forum is a no go though :(

It actually turned up TODAY, can't knock the service from Paisley Freight, they picked it up yesterday in Torquay and it was here at 10AM - I didn't even pay the extra for next day delivery! :D

Well. I didn't really get any during photos but the gearbox, linkage, everything is now in. No more derpy auto!

Just need to make myself a gaiter and it's job done as the centre console was the only thing that didn't come with the swap, oh and need to solder the two wires together that stop the auto from starting in gear and wire in reverse light switch but that's pretty much it!

Drove it yesterday and it was like being a learner driver again having had an auto for so long  doesn't help that there's an idle issue (possibly related to a non-compatible ELD) so it cuts out when you slow down or stop at a junction so you have to be quick!

Took it out for some photos though :)

Took some photos in daylight last weekend but still waiting to source another iacv to see if that resolves the cutting out issue. I thought I'd figured it all out but clearly not!

When the engine gets warm it'll just cut out on idle (so at junctions, traffic lights etc) unless you keep blipping the throttle. I checked the map and the idle was set quite low at higher temps which I didn't realise (was in advanced tools).

So I had Hudson Speedshop send me out a chip with it resolved in the hopes it'd fix the issue but no luck. IACV was 2nd hand from a mates storage unit so hoping to find a guaranteed working one to test before spending out on one without knowing it's the issue

Minor issue in the grand scheme of things though and it seems to run really well other than that considering it's yet to be properly mapped. Gearbox is nice, and it pulls really well now too 8-)

*filter placement is temporary I have an elbow to go on, it was the only place it would fit before when the auto box was in because of the cable etc. lots more room to play with now it's manual :)

Just spent the last 20mins catching up on this.
Excellent work. Shame about the bad luck, but perseverance pays off!
