It's like... dry, black, rusty crap basically? It smells like dirt, like actual dirt off the floor. There's a bit of fuel mixed in with it but it smells like just dirt and there's crap in the (brand new) sump too. The engine wouldn't crank over by hand, so we took it apart a bit at a time and ruled out all the components inside the block so only logical explanation is the block itself is ruined. I bought it without ever hearing it run so I took the risk, just didn't expect this.

Thanks, I hope so too. If the rebuild kit comes faster than expected I might even have it ready for Trax but I'm not holding out hope with my luck

This sucks Becca.
But onwards and upwards, is a shame the car won't be ready for JAE though.

Either way you perseverance with this car is admirable, and hopefully this additional wait means you can fine tune it a little bit more so it is perfect for you.
I just can't wait to see it back on the road.

Thanks for all the kind words guys, woken up feeling a little bit better about it just got to crack on. Once the rebuild kit gets here it shouldn't take long to get it built up and put back together - the modifications made to the head and intake etc all make everything easier to take apart and put together luckily.

Hopefully a week of evenings and a full weekend and it'll be back to turning the key again, once the kit gets here that is :)

I'll still be coming to JAE with JDMr but in the bB rather than taking both, hopefully the Accord will be ready in time for Trax so I can still show it somewhere this year!

ONWARDS AND UPWARDS!

So, I haven't updated in ages....

Here's the short of it:

- Engine is rebuilt, used original pistons (they were mint and OEM are better than the patent ones), donor block, donor crank, everything else rebuilt. Turned out it was a faulty oil pump (brand new) so nothing had lubrication.
- Car ran shitty, would only rev to 4k. Turned out there was launch control on the map I was given, doh. I edited the map myself and a lovely lad from Hudson Speed Shop (Cambs) put the new map on a chip for me.
- Everything seemed to be going fine, got it MOTd, road test - wouldn't shift into 3rd, or 4th. 1st and 2nd only. Gearbox is shot.
- Have a manual swap on it's way to me soon.

Seems to pull well though from what I got out of 1st and 2nd up to about 5k rpm (didn't want to push it on fresh engine).

Oh. And I decided against the wheels I got for it and have just ended up using the Enkei92s off the bB - MUCH better ;)

Some photos so the post isn't so boring:

Yeah it's literally been problem after problem, and people constantly asking me why I'm wasting time on an 'old banger' I love it though. I'll push through with it no matter what

Next year I'll sort all the rust and get it sprayed again too, hopefully be able to do that myself too :)
