I tried the method of Vtecmec as well as trying with closing the valve on the up stroke and was convinced it should work. But somehow it didn't work out for me so I started looking for a different method and was surprised by the effectiveness. I think it has something to do with the stroke of the cilinder not being big enough and ther for it would only be moving an bubble of air back and forward halfway down the pipeline.

Think that ed china bloke was caught using this method on "wheeler dealers" fair play to you mate for doing write up etc
