Updated with new info. UK and JDM 5th gens can have the ignition timing set just like a 4th gen. It is only Accord Type-R's (H22a7) and USDM 5th gen H22's that cannot set ignition timing. Disregard what the 5th gen US service manual says.

That's strange as back when I'd forgotten to tighten the dizzy bolts up on my 5g, and it popped off, I put it back on and messed around with the location of the dizzy which made no difference to how it ran.

I'll have to try and look at the timing properly then to see if I can get it running betterer

You can only set the ignition timing when you have jumped the service connector, otherwise the ECU will advance/retard the timing to counter any rotation of the dizzy ;)

What is the benefit of this?
I'm sure I've read it is a simple modification to do on an MX-5 to gain some extra bhp. Is this the case the Preludes, or is it purely how you like it setup for personal preference?
