I think the OP is asking about 4th gen JDM keys with infrared; there is no red key as far as I am aware, there is no immobiliser system, the key does recharge in the ingintion, all it does is operate the central locking from close up.

That's it Vtecmec, perhaps I should have specified. Is it really infrared though? I see no IR emitter on the key.

Yup, definitely infrared, there's an IR led embedded each side of the key. The batteries should charge when the key is in the ignition. Recently had mine apart, there's a thread in the electrical section with some pics that might help :D
