How to programme a remote key fob

Post by PreludePete » Mon May 21, 2018 10:38 am

Have a replacement 2 button remote central locking fob and want to programme for my 98, 5th gen auto.

Must be a"how to" somewhere.

Anyone point me in the right direction?

So I programmed my spare fob as per utube video and after a couple of goes it worked.

But now the original one doesn't!

So reprogrammed that and spare one doesn't work.

Strange! Or am I doing something wrong!?

I haven't watched the video, but the process of 'adding' is a misnomer, you can add and remove. You need to pair up multiple find in one go.

You need the feature to remove incase keys/fob are stolen.

Same is true if you use the red key to add keys, you can also remove previously stored ones.

From me

Pete

1. disarm sys.
2. turn key to II
3. press LOCK or UNLOCK
4. turn key to (0,I) ... I think either 0 or I
5. turn key to II
6. press LOCK or UNLOCK
7. repeat step 4.
8. repeat step 5.
9. repeat step 6.
10. repeat step 4.
11. repeat step 5.
12. repeat step 6. door should lock and LED should light up.
13. press LOCK on each remote you want to program ... one at a time.

Have to programme both remotes at once.

Ive now sold the car I was trying to provide with a spare fob.

Anzeaf - Once Ive reset the cat1 alarm on my Silver prelude I can let you have this one. Don't know if you are in UK, but if so £5.00 posted. PM me your address if you are ok with this.

Newkid, hi, thanks good to know for the future!!! (Great exhaust system by the way!)
