will this add more intake noise or will i be better off with a solid pipe and cone filter .

Do you mean the resonator?
It makes a bit more noise without it installed, yes, but really not much difference.
If you want full intake noise, a cone filter/after market intake pipe is the only way to go - however it's not really a performance benefit.
