My side windows were looking crap and I was going to paint them as per Stans guide. Then I thought they are rubber lets try my old trick on them.
Horrid

So I used cellulose thinners on a cloth(taking extreme care not to get it on the paintwork) and rubbed fairly hard over all the rubber. That removed all the gribbbe, grime and old polish. That took under 10 mins.
Them I wiped it all with white spirit(keeping it off the paintwork again) that removed any stickyness. 2 mins.
Then I polished it with some old cockpit black I had kicking about again a couple of mins.(I could have polished it a bit better but I had visitors turn up and I had to go and be pleasant to them)
Repeated the process on the other side. So under 30 mins in total.
The result

I will see how this weathers and might try polishing it with something else if the shine goes off to quickly.
Still 30 mins work made a hell of a difference. Its been bugging me for a long time.

After discovering yesterday just how effective Autosol metal polish was for removing the gribble on my roof strips, I thought I'd try it out on the rear quarter window trim.

Obviously you have to mask it off to protect the paintwork and glass. Once again, I used some AutoGlym Bumper Care to revive & protect.
