HOW TO FIT A JDM DC2 LIP TO YOUR 4TH GEN PRELUDE

Post by honda-hardy » Sun Jan 29, 2012 10:10 pm

you will need..

dc2 front lip
9x 65mm m6 bolts
9x m6 washers
2x black self tapping screws
2x 5mm spacers
9x 55mm tubes or cut copper pipe.

grab your lip from this type of dc2

Image

remove the 9 m6 10mm headed bolts that secure the oe lip to the underside of your lude.

first you need to cut the oe lip so it is the same thickness as the middle from either side, a ukdm lip is deeper than a jdm lip. so depending on depth you may need to adjust the copper pipe length.

Image

lay the oe lip inside the new dc2 lip.

Image

you need to use the oe lip as a template as the lude lip has 9 fixing points and the dc2 lip only has 7.
drill into the dc2 lip using an 8mm drill bit through the oe lip fixing holes.

paint the lip black after priming it, add laquer to help with protection from stone chips

fit the 5mm spacers to either end of the lip as the dc2 lip is slightly longer than the oe one.

Image

get an m6 bolt, m6 washer and metal tube/pipe and this is going to be used to refit it to the lude

Image

it is quite tricky to fit the lips but lay a piece of card or carpet off cut under the front of the lude to lay on and help to protect the paint.

using the pic above fit the lip to the lude but leave all fixings loose to allow for it to be possitioned before its finally tightened up.

and hey presto.

give it ago as its cheaper than buying a spoon lip or such like
