SRS Light Reset - 5th gen

Post by Lude-dude » Wed Aug 04, 2010 3:19 pm

5th gen only.

above is procdure to reset the SRS light, be advised it wont stay out if there is an actual fault with the system, i.e. airbag

I reset mine due to ethusiastic driving :? , which triggered the light for whatever reason.

basically short the connector wait for the srs light to go off, pull out your shorting device(paper clip, bit of wire) when it comes back on plug it back in, when it goes off again, remove again should blink twice to show its been done, turn off the car and wait 10 secs

you gotta be quick, can be tricky but do it first time and will be easy..

just what i was looking for. Went and picked up my first lude the other day and the numpty had fiddled with the fuses ( trying to get the handbrake light to go out - another fault he had caused by fiddling!!) and had caused the srs light to come on!!! if u dont know dont touch - untill u speak to some knowledgable people on a awesome forum. 8-)

from the mot manual.

Check that the Supplementary Restraint System (SRS) malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) does not indicate a fault in the system.

so,,,
if the lamp indicates a fault its a fail. if it does not indicate a fault its a pass.

It is under the steering column. A yellow plug with a blanking plug clipped in it. You need to remove the large panel on the dash under the column. Held with 1 screw and a clip. You need to follow the instructions in the link in the first post. I used a paper clip cut in 2 lengths. Insert each part of the clip into the plug to give you 2 prongs sticking out of the plug. You can then squeeze these prongs like tweezers to make and brake the contact of the plug.

You dont need to remove any panels. Just get on all 4s. Doggy style and look under. Unclip, pull out, insert, pull out, insert.
