Suspension sqeaking

When ever I go over speed humps or bumps in the road my suspension squeaks. Is this a common problem? It sounds like its coming from the rear rather than the front. Is there an easy fix or am I looking at an expensive job?

Wurly advised to me when he saw my car that this could be fixed by putting some washers on the top of the suspension and bolting it down? Will this work?

Bit clueless when it comes to stuff like this. My suspension is completely standard and I would like to upgrade it really. Whats the best thing to do I.e lowering springs or coilovers? Ive seen the really cheap coil over kits on ebay and read on here that some of you think they are dangerous or dont work?

If I found a cheap set of coilovers how much should I pay roughly? And are they easy to fit?

Any suggestions welcome :)

There is a cheap solution for shock knock in the wiki - http://www.ludegeneration.co.uk/honda-p ... -t739.html

If you are going to upgrade I would go for coilovers. IMO the car rides better with coilovers than with OEM shocks with after market springs. You could go for an after market shock and spring combo?

Thanks @Merlin thats great, I do hear a few knocks now and again its more the squeaking that's annoying.

How much should you pay for a set of coil overs? I don't have £600-1000 laying around unfortunately. How much would a set of 2nd hand cost roughly?

And @lude-dude Have you got any pictures of what I should be looking at?

You'd know if it was knocking. You could get a can of silicone spray and methodically spray each rubber bush until the squeak goes away, then you know which one is the culprit.

um its like ball socket attached to the wishbone

you could try giving them a lube see if it goes away

So for the wish bone bushes if its them that's squeaking on the rear its probably better to replace the whole wish bone?

How much would you generally pay for a set of coilovers 2nd hand?

I have just fitted new front wishbones on the front of mine , and the drivers side likes to squeak . I just keep spraying it with silicone spray, that cures it for a while
