Alignment time

Post by Merlin » Thu Jul 04, 2013 7:53 pm

Despite all the recent work the car still felt a bit jumpy going along the road. We couldnt find anything wrong and nothing showed up in the MOT so I took it for a wheel alignment. Both of the passenger side wheels were out, probably from going round Knockill the guy said :D The car feels so much more planted now so along with sorted brakes she is ready to go on track this Sunday.

Japfest at Knockhill 2013

Post by Merlin » Mon Jul 08, 2013 9:10 am

A great day for some track action yesterday, just a shame my brakes were pap. I am no longer running Hawk pads so braking performance was far below what I am used to. Plus I think a bit of grease got on one of the discs :x Despite this I had a good time on track as the car was gripping well. Bruski was behind me in his Integra for a while so I am looking forward to seeing that vid :D

On the way home I realised all was not well though :( The car pulls to the right, even more so off throttle, and this morning it was making a strange noise from the drives side front. Maybe I have finally made something fail (we suspected something was up before but couldn't find it)

The one thing yesterday made me realise is how much I want my 4th gen to be ready

Cool vid mate! Shame about your brakes though - you've just given thousands of Civic owners false hope!

Yeah everyone was catching me in the braking zones, there was nothing I could do. I was just trying to keep out of the way and enjoy myself.

Cool man, it looked like a blast - I'd be afraid that my car would break under circuit punishment

Re: Merlin's 2.2 VTi H22a8 - On the track

Post by Merlin » Fri Jan 10, 2014 8:39 pm

I havent done anything to the car since last summer other than re-sealing my rocker cover. I had a nice leak coming from it. This time I let the sealant set properly by leaving it for a few days before driving.

My Rainsport 2's need replaced. They did not bad and lasted over two years, 15,000 miles and a few track days. Here are some pics of a new set of Uniroyal Rainsport 3's for this car. And bit of red rug action for @Donald :D

Yeah me too. The Rainsport 2's were a good all-rounder. I am expecting these to be better.

One thing I noticed is that these are not directional. They only need to have the two large grooves on the inside of the wheel, which means the half V tread will be pointing in different directions on each side of the car :?
