Yer, I have been looking into this, it depends on the pressure difference between whats above and below the bonnet as to which way the air will flow. I suppose when you think about it racing cars either vent engine rad heat either behind the front wheels just before the doors or on top the bonnet very close to the front of the car, and usually the exit is much much larger than the entrance to the ducted radiator. Unfortunately I need to do something about the heat generated by my exhaust as its tucked up at the back by the bulkhead where the airflow is quite limited. I have heat wrapped but what else do you guys think I could do to keep things cooler?

This build looks awesome! Where did you get the connectors for the battery terminals in the end?

Cheers! Really enjoying the process of the build & can't wait to actually contribute something at a show instead of just being a visitor & hopefully be able to put some ugly mugs to usernames this year! :lol:

Ops, and to answer your questions I found this place pretty good for all those electrical nic nacs:

If you want to get rid of the prelude battery box/tray altogether I still my other battery tray I can sell dirt cheap which mounts the battery behind the drivers side fog/indicator light area.

Cheers mate, I was interested when you put the drawings up but then didn't hear anything so I bought one in the end to go in the boot :-)

@Mudgey

Hi Mate, I'm thinking of losing my A\C unit in my dash.. i see on page 15/16 you gave a small write up but i was just wondering if theres anything else... like is it connected to the heating system blowers? etc? also it looks like you broke some white plastic.. is this needed to break things or :lol:

I just want to understand what i'm doing before i rip something out i shouldn't :lol:

I want to know more about where you moved your battery in to where the resonator box was.. And what clamps/ties you used.. :twisted: :twisted:

You can't do any damage! I think you may be able to remove the air-con housing from under the dash without having to remove the blower motor housing to the left of it. The white 'plastic' you described is infact moulded polystyrene and this will be coming out as well, it was only there to offer protection to the core and seat it securely in the aircon housing. Once the core is removed you will see an oblong hole in the engine compartment where the pipes used to pass through, I couldnt find any grommets so have made up this:

I made up my own battery tray to fit to existing holes where the resonator box was secured to the chassis, I always order two lots of laser cutting incase the fab shop mess something up, however they made me two boxes and have one left over. I can sell it at cost if interested. Unfortunately I forgot to work out the bend reductions for the folded parts and so the holes need to be filed out a little to fit. I used the same strap off of my other battery trays I sell, they have a load rating of 170kg from memory so are plenty strong enough to hold the battery in place! Here is a picture of the installation:
