VAFC Neo fitted - By the end, I'm not too keen on this unit, or the way I have fitted it. It may be coming back out again next weekend.
Item arrived in the post
The original idea was to split the neo in half, screen on the front and buttons to the side. Unfortunately the circuit board is one piece across the whole unit
Facelift Speaker Covers destroyed.
Center piece cut out
The unit squeezes nicely into the oem speaker bracket
A little Carbon Fiber later...
Test fit in the car, to ensure shape has not been distorted
Fiber Glass reinforcement behind old speaker grill
A bit of filler and rub down
First coat of primer and rub down
Several more coats of primer and run down and the paint finish is still crap with a run too! I can't paint for jobby
The finished article...
In the car....
Connected up....and I hate it
Incidentally, the wiring, while all the colours are the same (with the exception of 2 wires) Apexi decided to use an identical connector. However the male and female connectors were the wrong way round, so I had to completely re-wire it.
It's going to be resprayed in satin black next weekend, and if I still hate it, the old one is going back in
