2010 May - Chassis rebuild / polybush / steering Rack
I've had all this stuff in the garage for 3 or 4 years, this weekend I pulled my finger out at last.

2010 Jun - ABS Removal
Thanks to Si, today we worked on removing the ABS.
Not a very good picture here, but first we removed the brake booster and master cylinder - note the big space to left of the engine below
Si hard at it...
After removing the ABS unit, we fitted the brake proportioning valve. We could not find any pics on the internet anywhere of where it is supposed to be located. After much head scratching we found it!!
We made up a couple of new brake lines, but to be fair, we could have got away with using all the original pipework.
The cheapo ebay brake flaring tool did the job very well!!

2010 Sep - Rear chasis build / 4WS removal
Got the front end back together last week, new oil, filter, plugs, re-furbed and painted the calipers. Gave the engine bay a very quick polish.
Today I've got the back end 5ft in the air! brakes are off, just about to take the rear shocks and control arms out. 4WS is coming out too.
Here are a few pics of the front end before the brakes and wheels went on
2 wheel subframe is ready to go in
rear control arms need a little tlc, but over all in good condition - still need to fit the poly bushes
Arse in the air!!
Rear suspension is out ready from strip and repaint
The fight against rust - underside of the car with 4ws removed.
Rear end after a few rounds of anti rust syrup
2 coats of Acid Etch primer
2 costs of paint
then added under-seal over the top after the paint had dried.
Cleaned up the rear control arms and removed the bushes ready for painting. Gave the rear ARB a quick tidy up, but really it wants dipping in acid and plastic coated.
Here are the rear shocks, in worse condition than the fonts
The bump stops are split on both sides - foruntately i have poly replacements ready to go in.
Spent a bit of time stipping the paint and loose rust off the shocks ready for painting tomorrow.
2WS subframe in place
Lower control arms painted and bushed up, note the steel inserts are not yet pushed in (pictured top left)
Rear Teins rebuilt with new poly bump stop and poly upper shock bush.
Rear shock and lower arm fitted
Ingals camber kit. The variant I went for are the ones that attach the upper wishbone to the chassis.
All set
And today was MOT day..............PASSED!!! woop! woop!

Re: Kawa's Lude
Thats the plan buddy. The bodywork no longer warrants a showy-type-car. So plan is now to see how well (or not ) we can do on the quarter mile.Gorgon wrote:Why did you remove the 4WS and plan to remove other stuff? Going lightweight?
Would like to do a bit of work on the top end (hopefully) as she's smoking a bit. Finger crossed it is the top end. Need some funds first though
