Chrome / Neptune

No, not in the key of C. An H is likely involved though ...

Chrome / Neptune

Post by A1ex » Fri Apr 10, 2015 11:24 am

Has anyone here got any experience with Chrome / Neptune chipped ECUs?

@Merlin I remember you had one for sale so time ago, did you ever run it or do any tuning on it?

I ran a Crome tuned chipped ECU in mine for a while and am familiar with the software. Its been a while though. I have a map or two, think it's still in some folders somewhere.

What do you need to know exactly?

I ready your thread earlier actually about the Chrome stuff.

I contacted the garage in Bridgend you recommended and their Chrome expert has left :(

Looking at the cost of getting a Chrome ECU setup over here I can see me getting a hondata s300 and going to PAW ATM.

It's $320 to get a chrome ECU setup with obd2a - obd1 harness without shipping and VAT. which will hit it to £400 probably. Can get an S300 installed in an ECU for an extra £50.

Yeah, to be fair Crome tuners are far and few between in the UK. Ten a penny over the pond.

Plus the Crome software is a little buggy being a collaborated open source development, Hondata will 100% be a better investment for a mere £50 extra. Its easier to use and make amendments with just a laptop and USB cable. The Crome software has to burn a new chip to be installed into the ECU each time - a bit old school nowadays.

Plus Hondata has a lot more features and cool stuff to play with. 8)

This is all coming from someone who ran a Crome ECU and then upgraded to a Hondata S300.

What car is this for then? What you driving nowadays? If its for a H22, there's a couple of good maps on here to get you up and running, including mine, which you can upload yourself.

The civic. I've been looking at options and the only one which really works is to spend more money on it and get it done properly rather than trying to 'get it working'. Will have rebuilt A8 with ATR IM fitted and a decent intake / exhaust setup. May go with crank balance delete too, not sure yet tho...

But, tuned at PAW should be looking circa 240bhp which wouldn't be to shabby in a 1100kg car :)

Also go the s2k as well. Which, once the civic is finished, enjoyed for a year and then sold, may get a rotrex supercharger kit out of the sales proceeds (unless the Mrs spends the money before then)

If you've got an ATR spec map that would be epic!

Why not try Neptune? Much more available.
Eurospec are going to tune mine on Neptune and run water/meth injection with it.
Its around £850 including ECU costs and harness etc.
