finally fitting my plm tri-y. have a few questions tho?

Post by crigal.bb6 » Sun Jun 02, 2013 9:41 am

Hello and good morning my fellow prelude nutters . As title states i have finally got pissed off with looking at my lovely tri-y gathering dust on a shelf in my shed and am going to make a start in trying to get this beast fitted!
Anyway i am going to get down to the nitty gritty as i could blab on all day in my still pissed state haha.....1. Dose any lovely person have any photos of a fitted tri-y so i can see how much of a notch i have to take out of the crossmebery thingy? 2.Should i remove this before fitting manifold or will it be easier to cut it on car from your experience? 3. I am going to take the exhaust off my sitting ukdm 5g (2.5") todayand fit it to the bb4 or make it fit depending on ball ache lol. What length decat, test pipe will i be needing and best place to get it from? 3.5...lol. If i cba to take off 5g exhaust which is feeling like a big possibility and decide to buy a exhaust thats made for bb4 what length decat will i need to conect up the tri y?

Thanks everyone.
Nd no im not on crack  just still alot more drunk than i think i am!!

You want to see rattys thread mate http://www.ludegeneration.co.uk/profile ... 2-170.html

From what I remember him saying the reps are made for h22 civic conversion and have different angles from the prelude so you will need a welder for some custom work.
236bhp and 170ft/lb stock

Yep. Rich at PAW said he thinks these Hytech and the rep Hytech are made for the Civic chavs with H2B conversions so the angle from manifold to exhaust is completely off so the exhaust collector itself needs rewelding to change the angle, Crossmember notching as per my pics.

Its not a massive ball ache to fit but not straight forward.

Worth all the effort rich put in though.

Ted trimmed it down about 10-12mm to help with the ground clearance. Pretty essential around here with all the speed bumps

i dont know what the differences are but the tri y on mine hugs the oil sump and is only really any lower due to the larger size diameter of the piping and the mid section sits in the tunnel fine - just got to get the twin loop back box mated up. im surprised at the amount of modification thats need for it to fit a 5th - sure its all good tho :)

Suppose it depends on the company that replicated the tri y. Some will be angled wrong and some wont. The genuine ones are wayyyyy off.
