No, not in the key of C. An H is likely involved though ...

decat removal

Post by macky_6 » Tue Sep 10, 2013 12:24 pm

Just a quick question regarding removal of my decat for MOT purposes:

Jacking up the car at which end makes this easier?

Or is both wheels on one side easier? can you even do this safely? :?

Ok, that was 3 questions! Determined that i need to fix things myself

If the bolts are goosed your going to have fun

The convertor is near the front of the car so front would be best IMO. To do safely I would want a ramp or axle stands. I bought some 2.5ton ramps from machine mart + lead up ramps, off the top off my head I think around 50 quid in all. I use them all the time. I'll see if I can find them on their website.

There you go: http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/produ ... =SRC-ramps

buy the lead up ramps plus I also use some wooden boards as the cars too bloody low!

EDIT: Getting under a car which is held up by only jacks is a big no no IMO. To get to the convertor your going to need to get right underneath the car. ;)

Do you have a trolley jack? As I don't think it is possible to use the jack in the jackpoints and place the axle stands there. The jack points is where the manual recommends you put the axle stands AFAIK.

Jack the front of the car up on the front of the subframe. There is a central front jack point. Get it up and then put the axel stands under the front sill jack points. :D
