1999 V Honda Prelude 2.2 VTi Auto/Tiptronic 4WS - SOLD!

Post by arif_manji » Sat Apr 20, 2013 4:15 pm

Hi Guys,

The time has come where I need to sell my 1999 V reg Prelude 2.2 VTi 4WS. I bought this Prelude last year for the winter period as I can’t drive my rear wheel drive RX-8 as it terrible on snow and ice. As I’m getting married this summer, I’m unable to keep both cars due to space and the cost of insurance. My fiancée finds the Prelude too long to drive and prefers a small automatic.I have spent a lot of money on it and it’s an excellent Prelude.

Since I purchased the car last year, I have done the following (all documented):
- Full service including gearbox and power steering oil change (all Genuine Honda parts)
- Front wiper blades (Genuine Honda Part)
- 4WS reset as code 21 was flashing (thanks to Nitin who did that for me in Wembley)
- Cam belt change including alternator belt and power steering (carried out by a Honda specialist garage)
- New power steering oil cooler (due to leak)
- New OEM cat
- New radiator cap (was losing coolant and found that the radiator cap was at fault)
- Genuine Honda exhaust trims from Honda dealer
- Genuine Honda Motegi kit (found from breaker with exact same colour)
- Brand new Genuine front Honda fog lights + including kit, harness, switches and fittings (very expensive)
- 4 x brand new tyres for the 17” Motegi wheels (still new)
- 4WS alignment at Apex in Peterborough

As you can see, I’ve spent a lot of time and money on the car. I’m a true believer for genuine Honda parts, so cost has never been an issue. The Prelude has been kept 100% standard with no boy racer modifications.
The car is taxed until 31/05/2013 and MOT’d is valid till 21st July. Unfortunately last week when I had decided the Prelude had to now go, I went through the MOT’s on the VOSA website and found out that the previous owner had fiddled with the mileage in 2011. It was recorded at 116,000 miles and last year when I purchased it, it showed 85,000 miles – I can provide proof of this. I contacted VOSA and the citizen advice bureau to see if I could make a case and they said there was nothing I could do. Obviously, the previous owner is not answering his phone – so he probably knows why I’m calling him.

When I purchased the car, I carried out an HPi check to see if it was written off and it all came back fine. I didn’t do the mileage check as I seriously thought it was genuine due to the condition of the car. I now really wish that I had checked this last year before I went to buy the Prelude via the VOSA website, I bought it with my heart rather than my brain. I purchased it when it was showing 85,000 and its now on 90,000 miles. I am using it everyday.

I have no idea how much this Prelude is now worth with this, but I can guarantee that it’s a great Prelude with no mechanical issues and bodywork is very clean (please see pictures). I thought spending this money on the car will give me a good return back).

This Prelude is the later version and comes with:
- Electric windows and sunroof
- Excellent performing 2.2 VTi engine (H22A5)
- Heated seats (working)
- Heat door mirrors
- A/C
- Automatic / Tiptronic gearbox, changes gear smoothly and drive great.
- 4WS (fully working)
- OEM front fog lights (brand new Genuine Honda)
- Full Motegi Kit
- 90,000 + service history (since I’ve owned the car) + Honda grey wallet with manual etc
- 17” Motegi alloy wheels with brand new tyres (recently purchased)
- Cruise control (working)
- Spotless interior
- CD player
- 2 keys
- V5, MOT + service history

I’m going to let it go cheap and ask £1,495.I know the value isn’t great on these Prelude’s but as you can see, it’s in good condition and mechanically its perfect! I’m happy to listen to offers and advise, so please let them come through. I just want enough to cover the cost of the road tax and insurance transfer for my RX-8. I need the Prelude to go soon, but no real hurry. I’d like it to go to owner who’ll appreciate it and look after it.

The Prelude is located in Bedford during the week as I work there and Peterborough at the weekends. You can contact me on 07989 025916 or email me on arif_manji@hotmail.co.uk. You can also contact me via PM.

Thank you for looking through this.
