1987 Honda Prelude Convertible Auto

Post by dean weir » Wed Oct 05, 2016 7:42 pm

Honda Prelude 1.8 Automatic "Convertible"
1987 Model
Date Of Registration: 25th April 1990
1 Owner Car From New
Old Sytle V5c Document Is Present
Only 936 Miles Showing On The Clock
Yes Only 936 Miles Showing From Brand New !

In 1987 During 'The Great Storm' The Worst In Over 300 Years, In A Local Honda Main Dealer/Agent, A Brand New Unregistered Honda Prelude Had A Tree Land On It, Badly Damaging The Roof, This Car Was Then Dry Stored For Some Time, While Management Pondered About What To Do With It One Of The Directors Decided To Have This Car Professionally Converted Into A Cabriolet, Then Have This Car Registered To Himself, 2 Years After The The Initial Damage ( 1 Owner Car From New )

The Conversion Looks To Have Been Carried Out To A Very High Standard .. .. Looking Like A Factory Job !!

This Car Has Had Very Minimal Use And Has Only Covered An Incredibly Low Mileage Of 936 Miles. Surely The LOWEST Mileage On A Honda Prelude In This World !!

VERY Bad Point :

Unfortunately This Honda Has Been OUTSIDE For A Number Of Years ( Around 4 Years ) With A Cover Over It .. .. The windows Do Not Work And Have Been Down Whilst Left Outside. This Has Had An Adverse Effect To The interior Of The Car.. .. Unfortunately.

The Bodywork Is Still Very Solid Overall, With Just The Obvious Exceptions, Unfortunately Couple Of The Areas Are Pretty BAD ( See Pictures !! ) There is Some Rust To The Bottom Of The Passenger Door,Rust On The Petrol Flap, And As You See The Top Of the Rear Wings, Where It Meets The Hood

The Tonneau Cover Is Present And Will Improve With A Clean, There Is A Split In The Rear Plastic Window Of The Hood. Crack In Front Screen.

Starts On The Key, And Runs And Drives, Going Through The 4 Speed Automatic Gearbox Very Well Indeed, Albeit Running On Old/Stale Fuel.

A Unique Car ? Which Is Very Difficult To Value ? The VERY Low Mileage Engine and Auto Box Alone Cold Be Worth More ?

A Car like This With its Interesting History DESERVES To Be RESTORED !!

Please Note Old Style V5c Document Is All I Have With This Unusual Honda

Viewings/Pick Up Is : Forest Hill South-East London SE23

I Can Be Contacted For Much More DETAILED Pictures

It's hard to see from the ebay pics whether or not it's had proper bracing to replace the lost hoop strength. And what's going on with the side windows (behind the doors)? The offside looks a bit 'different'?

It is interesting, though!

I saw this, but the car was registered in 1990 but they say the storm of 87 damaged it? :?

Hello Everybody !!
This Car Is A 1987 Model .. .. . Registered On The 25th April 1990 .. .. .
It Was Strengthed Via The Boot Area
The Side Windows Are Perspex And Are Removable When The roof Is Down ( I Guess This Was The Best The Fabricator Could Do At That Time ! )

"Bodywork Is Still Very Solid Overall, With Just The Obvious Exceptions"

Really? ? ?

20 years outside, an educated guess would say thing has rot all over it..

It's Prob best use is as a donating car for the low mileage engine.

I saw the ebay pics and the corrosion has attacked this from most areas. And the annoyance about rust, its nearly always worse than it looks...

It's an interesting car and thanks for posting it here.

Any evidence to support the mileage.

When i scrapped my 1980 Mk1 Accord in 1989 it only had 30,000 on the clock. Good old 80's dials reset at 100k.
