As much as I love this car, it's time to admit defeat  After waiting for 4 months to get the gearbox changed, it's finally changed... BUT. Driving out of the garage I noticed the 2nd gear slipping a bit, so drove him right back. That's where he is now, having the cheap general gearbox oil swapped for proper Honda oil in hopes that that will fix the issue. We'll see. Also, while the work was being carried out, a couple of other problems were discovered that will need fixing before the next MOT (namely balljoints and anti roll bar mount). I don't have the skills or the patience any more, I just want to be on the road and enjoying myself :vtec:

Hoping he'll either go to a loving new home where someone can breathe new life into him again, or spread the joy by providing sought-after parts to those in need...

- 1998 Prelude VTi automatic
- MOT til Feb 2017
- 115k miles
- Good engine
- Cambelt changed at 70k
- 5 previous owners
- Oil change at 102k (from memory)
- 4 new tyres; balanced, aligned, tracked
- Replacement 2nd hand box has just been fitted with incorrect oil; waiting for proper Honda oil to see how it runs. Updates to follow asap!
- No rust anywhere except 50p on one panel, and rusty bolts underneath
- Long scratch on one of the doors; not deep, but visible. Some "wear and tear" here and there, but generally in good nick.
- Crack in windscreen by hamfisted dashcam fitment by husband; if the car is bought for parts we'll leave it, if to drive we'll see if the insurance will cover fixing it.
- Excellent unmarked black leather interior
- Sony DAB Bluetooth stereo

Photos from June 2016 when we bought him. The approx. 7-inch crack on the driver's side bottom corner happened since the photos, the tyres have been changed and the door protectors have been removed, otherwise in the same condition.

Price: I'll leave you connoisseurs to decide what would be fair, so if interested, please make an offer.

Any questions – ask away! Quickly put this together on my lunch break so quite possible I forgot some important bits. Updating as we go along :)

Real shame, but I know how it can get.
Car looks good.

Gonna just buy another one that's all in working condition to replace?

Sadly no patience to wait long enough to find one, and after waiting for months to get it fixed we wanted something more reliable so not this time - but this won't be my last Prelude, that's for sure.

Hank's gone. Took £500 and left him for scrap :(

Honestly didn't think saying goodbye to a car could get me to the verge of actual tears

I'll be back one day....

Edit: travelling home and crossed the verge. Feeling like a very silly girl right now, crying over a piece of rubber and metal.
But a manual. Do it. Do it now.

I wish :| Now I have to learn to love, or at least not to resent, the non-Lude replacement.

Thank you, and that makes two of us!

Discovering the replacement car's Sport mode over the weekend has made it a teeny bit easier to deal with the loss 8-) But it'll never be the same as a Lude... *sob*

Ratty, you'll be pleased to hear I'm on it! The non-Honda has failed to excite, so the plan is to be in a Lude again ASAP - this time a manual, having learned my lesson the hard way.
